## Key Facts for Riders

- **Track Duration:** 1.5 Hours on Trail
- **Skill Level:** Complete Beginners Welcome
- **Transmission:** Semi-Automatic (No Clutch)
- **Post-Ride Perks:** Hot Showers & Buffet Lunch

## 1. Do You Need Driving Experience or a License?

The short answer is no: over 75% of our guests have never sat on an all-terrain quad bike before arriving at our base camp. You do not need an international driver license, motorcycle experience, or manual transmission skills.

Before anyone heads toward the main rainforest trail, our instructors gather the group for a hands-on 10-minute safety run-through. You’ll sit on your dedicated 250cc quad bike, practice starting the engine, test the handlebar brakes, and take 2 to 3 practice loops around our wide gravel training circle until you feel steady and relaxed.

> **Guide's Confidence Tip:** If you ever feel nervous during the practice loop, just let your instructor know. We can place you right behind the lead guide or have an experienced marshal ride alongside you until you're cruising comfortably.

## 2. How the Quad Bike Works: Thumb Throttle & Hand Brakes

Unlike road motorcycles that use a twist-grip throttle, Bali adventure ATVs utilize an intuitive right-thumb lever throttle. Push forward gently with your thumb to accelerate; release it and the engine naturally decelerates with automatic engine braking.

Braking is just like a bicycle: the left and right levers on the handlebars control your front and rear hydraulic disc brakes. Because our quads feature high-torque semi-automatic transmissions, you never have to wrestle with a foot clutch or stall the engine going up muddy hills.

> **Thumb Fatigue Prevention:** First-time riders tend to press the throttle lever too hard with a tense grip. Relax your shoulders, rest the heel of your palm against the handlebar grip, and apply smooth, steady thumb pressure.

## 3. What Terrains You Actually Ride: Bamboo, Caves & Rivers

Our 1.5-hour Ubud trail isn't a flat dirt road around an empty field—it's a continuous, dynamic circuit carved through Payangan's real tropical landscape.

You start under cool bamboo forest canopies with gentle switchbacks, open up along emerald rice terrace borders, splash through natural freshwater riverbeds, and power through wide mud drift arenas.

## 4. What Happens If Your ATV Gets Stuck in Deep Mud?

Getting stuck in deep mud is half the fun of an off-road ATV tour in Bali! The muddy basins in Payangan are genuine volcanic clay that gets thick and slick, especially after morning rains.

If your rear wheels start spinning without forward movement, rule number one is simple: stop pressing the throttle. Continuing to rev will only dig your rear tires deeper into the clay.

We station trail marshals at every technical obstacle. When a quad gets bogged down, our marshals step in immediately with tow straps or give you a quick nudge so you can throttle out smoothly without getting off your bike.

> **Free Rubber Boots Included:** We provide sanitized rubber boots in all adult sizes (up to EU 46) and helmets. That means your personal sneakers stay clean and dry inside your locker while you splash through knee-deep mud.

## 5. Passing the Famous Gorilla Cave Stone Tunnel

One of the biggest highlights of our Ubud track is the carved stone Gorilla cave tunnel. Hand-carved into the volcanic rock face, you'll flip on your quad's twin headlights and rumble into the cool darkness beneath stone stalactites.

Inside the cave, trail marshals help guide everyone in single-file convoy. Right before exiting through the mouth of the giant stone Gorilla face, we pause for an iconic photo stop where your guide will happily take photos and videos using your phone.

## 6. After the Trail: Hot Showers, Lockers & Valley Buffet

When you pull back into our base camp, you’ll likely be covered in mud splashes from your boots to your knees. We have private hot shower cubicles equipped with clean bath towels, liquid soap, and changing rooms.

Once you are clean and changed into dry clothes, head up to our open-air restaurant pavilion to enjoy a warm Indonesian buffet lunch (chicken satay, fried rice, noodles, fresh tropical fruit) overlooking the jungle valley—completely included in your tour ticket.
